In April 2019 in Poland there has entered into force the Act on the submission of certain official documents in member states of the European Union. This Act is to ensure the application in Poland of the Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 July 2016 on promoting the free movement of citizens by simplifying the requirements for presenting certain public documents in the European Union, including by abolishing the requirement of legalization and apostille. The documents that qualify to this simplified procedure are, among others:
1) an abridged copy of the birth certificate;
2) a complete copy of the birth certificate;
3) shortened copy of the death certificate;
4) complete copy of the death certificate;
5) shortened copy of marriage certificate;
6) complete copy of the marriage certificate;
7) certificate of marital status;
8) a certificate stating that marriage can be concluded under Polish law;
9) court ruling on divorce;
10) the court’s decision on the separation;
11) court ruling on the abolition of separation;
12) court decision on annulment of marriage;
13) the court’s decision on adoption;
14) the court’s decision on the dissolution of the adoption;
15) the court’s decision on establishing paternity;
16) the court’s decision on the determination of motherhood;
17) certificate of registration for permanent residence;
18) certificate of registration for temporary residence;
19) confirmation of a person staying in a specific place;
20) decision on recognition as a Polish citizen;
21) decision regarding the restoration of Polish citizenship;
22) decision on confirmation of Polish citizenship;
23) a certificate of no criminal record of a person, issued from the National Criminal Record at the request of that person;
24) a certificate issued by the commune to a Polish citizen residing in another Member State of the European Union who expressed the will to vote or stand for election to the European Parliament or local elections in the Member State in which he or she resides.
